At a time when Filipino moviegoers had very limited local choices, Erwin “Lucky” Blanco, a lifelong film fan, set out to raise the bar for mainstream Filipino cinema.
While larger studios built films around a narrow idea of the Filipino audience, MAVX challenged that assumption. We trusted that audiences were ready for bolder stories, fresher perspectives, and higher standards.
“The Filipino audience was never the problem.
The lack of choices was.”
That belief became the foundation of MAVX Productions.

From humble beginnings to global screens.
NUUK (2019) went on to screen in Denmark and across North America, proving that even a young, independent production company could achieve what once seemed impossible.
That momentum carried into a series of carefully calculated risks, films that didn’t rely on formulas, but on strong storytelling.
Breaking myths. Taking creative risks.
From the beginning, MAVX was built to challenge convention. Fresh from his success as an Executive Producer of the breakout hit Kita Kita (2017), Lucky took a bold leap into independent filmmaking. The result was NUUK (2019), the first Asian feature film shot entirely in isolated Greenland, starring Aga Muhlach.
Stories that travel anywhere
In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Netflix acquired several MAVX films, including Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap, a project with no major stars, but a story that resonated deeply with audiences.
Its unexpected success became a turning point. Soon after, Finding Agnes (2020) was released globally as a Netflix Original, making it only the second Filipino film to receive that distinction.
Today, MAVX Productions is known for creating films that are bold, unconventional, and globally relevant, stories that connect with audiences both in the Philippines and around the world.
We continue to produce films locally and internationally, recognized not just by distributors, but by global platforms that bring Filipino stories to an ever-widening audience.
A network engineer by profession who became bored with the routine work in the BPO industry. He looked for other opportunities which would feed his cravings for knowledge and exciting things.
Erwin Dionisio Blanco, more fondly known as “Lucky”, is a simple guy who hails from the famous place in Manila: Tondo.
The tides of destiny brought him to the colorful and exciting world of movie-making. He started his career in filmmaking as a Script Continuity Supervisor. From there, he climbed his way up and tried to learn the nitty-gritty of the different key positions in Film Production.
His love for movies started when he was still a little boy, when his father would bring him to the movie theaters to watch Pinoy Movies – from drama to comedy to action!
This is where he gets his inspiration to create new and exciting movies for the Filipino audience.
His mantra is to bring the Philippine Movies in the world stage, for the whole world to enjoy and experience.
His passion for work and excellence drives him to create more quality films which reflects the interesting lives of Filipinos here and elsewhere in the world.
Mavis Uera is Lucky’s partner and ardent supporter in building MavX from its humble beginnings to what it is today: a forerunner in the field of cinema and content creation.
She continues to support his vision of bringing emotionally engaging and meaningful films that enrich Filipino audiences in theaters and streaming platforms the world over.
Her love for cinema was cultivated from childhood, as a weekend family ritual, a tradition that has continued from when she met Lucky, up to the present time with her own family. Cinema has always been a way to bring joy and reinforce the loving bond they have with each other. It is her hope to share this magic through the films that they create.
As the vice president of the company, she works to create a sustainable business model that will give her fellow film workers the opportunity to share their talents. Mavis is also a mother to three children: Mavia, Maxie, and Markell Lav. The name MavX is lifted from their names. Lucky’s brainchild is likewise also her child, which captures their family’s love and affection that they will shepherd to be a force of joy and meaning for all.
